I thought that taking the photo without my sports bra highlighted my athletic body, which is something I have worked very hard for and am very proud of.

Not a lot to do about the impressions.. I've heard sexism go around the gyms quite often, as well as online. You can do what you want to hide that rump, they're still going to gawk at it! ..breasts are the worst, especially if you do an overhang and they can see into your shirt.. and covering them up isn't exactly an easy task - for one; it's really warm when you're at your peak performance, doing what you do best without paying attention.. and then you get to hear it. Or, well, at least I get to hear it.
